Electronic Commerce (EC) is a new concept of bias is described as a process of buying and selling of goods or services on the World Wide Web Internet (Shim, Qureshi, Siegel, 2000), or the process of selling or exchanging products, services and information, including information networks malalui Internet ( Turban, Lee, King, Chung, 2000).
Kalakota and Whinston (1997) defines the EC from several perspectives the following:
1. From the perspective of communication. EC is the delivery of information products / services, or payments via telephone lines, computer network or other electronic.
2. From the perspective of business processes. EC is the application of technology to automate transactions and work flow of the company.
3. From the perspective of the service. EC is a tool that will satisfy the company, customers, and management in service to cut costs while improving the quality of goods and speed palayanan.
4. From the perspective of online. EC related to the capacity purchase and sale of products and information on the Internet and other online services.
Some people view the term commerce (trade) as a transaction between companies berpatner. Therefore, the EC term narrow memorable for some people. Many prefer to use the term e-businees, not just selling and buying, but it also means serving customers and collaborating with business partners, and the implementation of electronic transactions within an organization. According to Lou Gersner, CRO at IBM. "E-businees is a case of the cycle (cycle time), speed, globalization, higher productivity, new customer outreach, and inter-company cross mrncapai institutions for competitive advantage."
